Students are eligible to become members of Tau Beta Pi at UNLV if they have met the following requirements:

Undergraduate Students:

  • Enrolled in a B.S. Program in Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Entertainment Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering
  • At least 18 Engineering credits
  • At least 3.25 GPA
  • Junior standing and upper 1/8 of the junior class OR senior standing and upper 1/5 of the senior class

Graduate Students:

  • Enrolled in a M.S. Program in Biomedical Engineering, Civil & Environmental Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials and Nuclear Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering OR program of Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering
  • At least 50% of coursework completed
  • Upper 1/5 of their group (Master or Doctorate), each group ranked separately

Candidates for membership will be contacted near the beginning of the semester in which they are eligible. The list of eligible candidates will be posted publicly throughout the College of Engineering. Following this, candidates who wish to join must complete the following process:

  1. Attend the Orientation Meeting (TBD)
  2. Complete the requisite paperwork (member/faculty networking, résumé, catalog card) and pay the membership fee (TBD)
  3. Attend a Professional Development activity (e.g. Engineering Futures)
  4. Complete the Google Form Interview (TBD)
  5. Attend the initiation ceremony (TBD)
