Students are eligible to become members of Tau Beta Pi at UNLV if they have met the following requirements:
Undergraduate Students:
Enrolled in a B.S. Program in Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Entertainment Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering
At least 18 Engineering credits
At least 3.25 GPA
Junior standing and upper 1/8 of the junior class OR senior standing and upper 1/5 of the senior class
Graduate Students:
Enrolled in a M.S. Program in Biomedical Engineering, Civil & Environmental Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials and Nuclear Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering OR program of Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering
At least 50% of coursework completed
Upper 1/5 of their group (Master or Doctorate), each group ranked separately
Candidates for membership will be contacted near the beginning of the semester in which they are eligible. Candidates who wish to join must complete the following process:
Attend the Orientation Meeting (Wednesday, Feb. 24 @ 5:30PM or Friday, Feb. 26 @ 3:30PM via Google Meet)
Complete the requisite paperwork (member/faculty networking, engineering org networking, catalog card) and pay the membership fee (Initiation Materials due Friday, Mar. 26 @ 5:00PM; Catalog Cards due Monday, Mar. 29 @ 5:00PM)
Attend a Professional Development activity (e.g. Engineering Futures and events hosted by other engineering orgs or Engineering Career Services)
Complete the Google Form Interview (Due Friday, Mar. 26 @ 5:00PM)
Attend the initiation ceremony (Wednesday, April 14 @ 5:30PM or Friday, April 16 @ 3:30PM)
Candidates should familiarize themselves with the history, Constitution and bylaws, and the events of the Nevada Beta chapter on www.tbpunlv.org/info/history/.
